<\/p>\nThis week the Doolin Cave team spoke with Arthur, a WWOOFer, who is making his way around the Clare Countryside and is currently helping us with some work on our nature trail.<\/p>\n
For those of you who maybe reading this and thinking \u201cwhat\u2019s a WWOOFer?\u201d, don\u2019t worry I was also in this predicament. WWOOF stands for Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms, and volunteers from all over the world come to host families\/companies to learn about organic growing and sustainable living practices.<\/p>\n
Arthur Bouexiere is one such WWOOFer, and came to Ireland from Le\u00f3n in the Brittany region of France. He is travelling around Ireland, really liked Doolin, and decided to stay in the area. The beauty of the countryside is what he loves about Clare.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe cliff walk is really spectacular, but what I like most about the area is that you can walk around in any direction and take in wonderful scenery.\u201d<\/p>\n
Another thing that attracted him to the area were its people.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe people are probably the friendliest in Ireland along with Donegal people. Clare people are just amazing and are very friendly and open minded. From here I will be going to Inishturk, a tiny island off the west coast, and am looking forward to meeting the community who live there and doing some sheep farming.\u201d<\/p>\n
Arthur is helping to tend to the nature trail at Doolin Cave and thinks that it is a great initiative.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe nature trail I\u2019m taking care of is brilliant. I think it\u2019s great to have native species planted here, as it gives visitors an interest in nature and an insight into what this part of Clare is actually supposed to look like. I think people are so busy now that they don\u2019t get to outside and appreciate the beauty of where they are living.\u201d<\/p>\n

Arthur is leaving us next week, but our nature trail is really starting to bloom with help for our WWOOF friends. Best of luck Arthur from the team at Doolin Cave!<\/p>\n
